Spent a great weekend with the inlaws (is that oxymoronic or what!) but seriously its generally pretty relaxing when I hang out with them. Tough going back to work and being away from my little cherubs today though...
Right now I'm hanging out when I should be turning in - listening to Alicia Keyes "If I Ain't Got You". Such an incredible songstress, that young lady...

Thoughts on why we're here
So one of my biggest issues is the constant internal religious debate that I have. Last night I came up with a theory, and figured I'd write it down and reflect back on it later.
Its based on the questions; Who is God? and What is our purpose for being?
So the way I consider it is, God is this ultimate being with two sides - good and evil. God's purpose for us, is the evolution of humanity toward good. So think of your baser instincts and desires. They tend to be kinda evil, right? I mean the root of what we are holds all our vices, whether its sex, drugs, violence, lying or some combination of those (or other) vices - the root of who we are, is evil. God's purpose for us, is the ability to evolve beyond that tendency to commit evil.
The world's major religions tend to support this view, consider that the things world religions say are bad, and the things they suggest we should strive for - tend to be largely consistent around the world.
Anyone who happens to stumble across this - I'd love to hear your perspective.

Blogging - a great way to procrastinate

So here I am writing in my blog (can I really call this a blog? Its more a meandering document of my random thoughts than a blog... speaking of meandering). Where was I... Oh. Right. Procrastinating. Huge presentation to do at noon. Its now midnight, and I've got miles to go before I
{That's me on painting duty. I was painting my little girl's room (light purple & darker purple, with a Dora border. Much fun.
Learnt today that you can get motion sickness on a train by sitting opposite to the direction said train is moving in. Judith (Go train pal) suffers from this. Solution? Sit in the same direction that the train is moving in. Bizarre.

Is Mayonnaise a Condiment?
Went through my mind as I walked up the condiments aisle of my neighbourhood Fortino's. Now I didn't research the answer to that question, but I did find Mayo in that aisle, which really is answer enough for me. Well, back to reviewing AD's strategy paper.

Business Ideas
Had lunch with CF at Il Fornello's on King St. today. She's such a nice lady, if only she didn't spit when she talked. I'm sure I wound up consuming a little something extra in both my lunch & my water. Oh well, take the good with the bad, I guess.
Anyhow, she is such a great source of info. For example, today she told me all about the difference between DB & DC pension plans, and why DC plans are bad. Great info to know before you jump ship for another company which offers you a better base but crappy pension.
So for a while I've been mulling over the idea of starting an online diary / journal site as a business, supported by ad revenue - replacing private paper diaries. I thought it was a great idea, and figured no one was really doing this. I figured all the hype was on blogs, & blogs alone. Imagine my surprise when I did a Yahoo search & found a whack of online diary sites! I shouldn't have been surprised, you say? Well, you're probably right, but I was anyhow. Now I'm back to square one for business ideas.
Some of the stuff I've thought about includes a targeted blog / diary site for people of caribbean / african descent, a general diary site (which I'll now have to strike off my list of ideas) , home video editing, business consulting, and a black history research site... I'll mull the idea over some more... See where I net out...
